Research & Development

In Daca-i, in 2012, an R&D department was established. We have invested in technological innovation to improve existing products, develop new ones, and optimize processes to obtain alternative solutions. Collaborating on goals and strategies with universities, research centers, and private partners has helped the company expand its areas of expertise and gain a prominent position in the mobility sector.

ICARO Project

In May 2017, Daca-i presented Project Icaro (Industralization of Cast Aluminum Product) under the I.R.2 funding program, in collaboration with renowned partners in the casting sector such as Teksid and Endurance.
Our contribution involves studying metal foams fused with automotive components in aluminum and validating the results. Additionally, we focus on optimizing the thermofluidodynamics of equipment for molds using Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology.
In this regard, our aim is to devise a methodology for designing inserts for molds with Conformal Cooling Channels.

NEOS Project

Daca-i has enriched its know-how in the field of Electrification by participating in a PON (National Operational Project) funded by the Ministry of Education, University, and Research (Miur), in collaboration with two established partners in the nautical industry, Flexitab and Victory. The project, named "NEOS" (Natante Elettrico Off Shore), aims to develop a prototype demonstrator of an electric boat by transforming a traditional diesel-powered vessel into an electrified version within 36 months.
Daca-i is tasked with developing the Powertrain, which includes four synchronous electric motors with permanent magnets and two internal combustion engines, positioned on each of the two transmissions (one for each propeller). Through an appropriate control strategy and the development of innovative reducers, these machines can be used both for propulsion and for recharging a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack.
